Men’s hoopsters slide toward season finale

By Nick Gerts

Senior forward Steve Determan wants to do the same thing to Central Michigan what Western Michigan did to the Huskies Wednesday: ruin its Senior Night.

The Huskies are coming off a 67-62 loss against the Broncos and head to Mount Pleasant to face the Chippewas in the regular season finale Saturday, which will be televised by ESPN Plus.

“It would be really nice to come away with a win,” Determan said. “I would love to go in there and ruin their Senior Night, just like what Western Michigan did to us [Wednesday] night. We are definitely going to take it at Central Michigan. We are going to give it everything we have over there. We got nothing else to lose.”

NIU (5-21 overall, 4-13 Mid-American Conference) might be coming off one of its disappointing losses of the season, but the Huskies won’t let that bother them.

They hope to pull off an upset over the Chippewas and build momentum heading into the MAC Tournament two days after NIU’s last game on Monday. NIU will be on the road for the first-round matchup.
