4 more students, 1 employee test positive for COVID-19

The DeKalb County Health Department announced 10 new COVID-19 cases Friday, bringing the total number to 8,662.

DeKALB — NIU announced Monday that four additional students and one employee has tested positive for the coronavirus, and six students have recovered, according to the Campus COVID-19 Dashboard. As of Monday, 25 students and 10 employees are currently COVID-19 positive.

The dashboard’s cumulative testing statistics show a total of 597 Huskies that have tested positive for COVID-19, and 562 have recovered.

As of  Monday at 3:00 p.m., NIU is at 1.8%  quarantine and isolation use, this is a 1.3% decrease from Friday.

Surveillance testing 

NIU administered 243 COVID-19 tests during the week of Dec. 7 for surveillance testing. The positivity rate was 0.8%, with two recorded positive results, according to surveillance testing data.

Surveillance testing data is updated on the dashboard website every Monday, or on a Tuesday if a holiday falls on a Monday.
