DeKALB – A winter weather advisory has been issued for the northern Illinois area starting 3 p.m. Tuesday until 9 a.m. Wednesday, according to the National Weather Service.
Tuesday
On Tuesday, there will be a high chance of snow after 2 p.m. with a high of 30 degrees and wind gusts as high as 20 mph. The chance of precipitation is 90%. There could be a one-inch accumulation of snow.
Hazardous travel conditions are possible Tuesday PM into Wednesday AM. Snow develops over the area late Tue then gradually changes to a wintry mix, including freezing rain overnight. Wednesday
On Wednesday, rain is expected before 3 p.m., with a slight chance of snow. It will be a high of 35 degrees and cloudy. There’s a 50% chance of precipitation.
Thursday
On New Year’s Eve, it will be partly sunny and the high will be near 28 degrees.
Friday
New Year’s Day will see a high of 33 degrees and will be mostly cloudy. There is a high probability of rain, snow and freezing rain with possible sleet before 3 p.m. Snow is predicted between 3 and 4 p.m., and snow mixed with rain will likely appear after 4 p.m. It will continue to snow after 4 p.m.
Saturday
Saturday will see mostly sun with a high of 27 degrees.
Sunday
Sunday will see mostly sun with a high of 31 degrees.
