9 more students test positive for COVID-19, 15 students recover

DeKALB — NIU announced Monday that nine additional students and no employees have tested positive for the coronavirus, and 15 students have recovered, according to the Campus COVID-19 Dashboard. As of Monday, 35 students and seven employees are currently COVID-19 positive.

The dashboard’s cumulative testing statistics show a total of 682 Huskies that have tested positive for COVID-19, and 640 have recovered.

As of Monday at 3 p.m., NIU is at a 3.1% quarantine and isolation use, a 1.8% decrease from Friday.

Surveillance testing 

NIU administered 1,361 COVID-19 tests during the week of Jan. 18 for surveillance testing. The positivity rate was 0.8%, with 11 recorded positive results, according to surveillance testing data.

Surveillance testing data is updated on the dashboard website every Monday, or on a Tuesday if a holiday falls on a Monday.
