The Tails Humane Society’s Pet of the week of Feb. 7 is a sixteen-month-old large female dog named Zuma.

Zuma was given up for adoption by her owner because she was not a good fit for her first home, said Lauren Leffelman, Animal Care Supervisor at Tails Humane Society.

Zuma’s favorite activities include chewing on snacks, going on walks and cuddling with people, according to the Tails Humane Society’s description on their webpage.

“Our favorite thing about Zuma is that she is a smart dog who wants to learn new things,” Leffelman said. “She already knows lots of commands, but is always up to learn more.”

Zuma gets along well with people and other dogs as long as they don’t invade her personal space too much, according to the Tails website. However, Zuma detests cats and doesn’t want to live in a house with them. She also is house and crate trained.

If interested in adopting Zuma, please call Tails Humane Society, 2250 Barber Greene Road, at 815-758-2457.Currently, they are open for walk-ins for customers to observe animals Leffelman said. To see what animals Tails Humane Society has for adoption, visit their website.
