February 10, 2021
DeKalb — The DeKalb Police Department is hosting their annual certified National Weather Service weather spotter courses in February and March.
“The weather spotter course is a certified comprehensive course in spotting severe weather,” said Jason Leverton, DeKalb Police Department commander.
Leverton said the purpose of the course was to allow people to identify weather warning signs to keep themselves safe.
Leverton said a certified spotter is given a hotline number where they can call and inform future forecasting.
The weather spotter courses will be virtual because of COVID-19 restrictions. The courses are available to the public at no cost. Leverton said the courses are about two hours long.
The courses are on the following dates:
•6:30 p.m. February 11
