16 additional students test positive for COVID-19, 21 students recover

DeKALB — NIU announced Monday that 16 additional students and no employees have tested positive for the coronavirus, and 21 students and one employee have recovered, according to the Campus COVID-19 Dashboard. As of Monday, 65 students and one employee are currently COVID-19 positive.

The dashboard’s cumulative testing statistics show a total of 952 Huskies that have tested positive for COVID-19, and 886 have recovered.

As of Monday at 3 p.m., NIU is at a 19% quarantine and isolation use, a 3.7% increase from Friday.

Surveillance testing 

NIU administered 2,184 COVID-19 tests during the week of April 12 for surveillance testing. The positivity rate was 2.1%, with 45 recorded positive results, according to surveillance testing data.

Surveillance testing data is updated on the dashboard website every Monday, or on a Tuesday if a holiday falls on a Monday.
