County cases rise to 10,014

DeKALB — The DeKalb County Health Department announced Friday the number of positive COVID-19 cases increased to 10,014.

Among those who’ve tested positive for the coronavirus, 1,784 are younger than 19, 2,430 are in their 20s, 1,503 are in their 30s, 1,369 are in their 40s, 1,240 are in their 50s, 833 are in their 60s, 446 are in their 70s and 409 are 80 or older.

As of Friday, 117 people have died from the coronavirus in the county, according to the DCHD.

DeKalb County has administered 69,257 vaccines as of Friday, and 30,101 county residents are fully vaccinated, 29% of the county population, according to state vaccine data.

Statewide, there are 1.3 million confirmed cases of COVID-19 and 22,171 recorded deaths as of 5 p.m. Friday, according to the Illinois Department of Public Health.

The state has fully vaccinated 4.3 million residents as of Friday, 34% of the state population.
