DeKALB — Outdoor Adventures will be hosting a “Used Gear Sale” from 1 to 4 p.m. Sept. 12 at the NIU Recreation Center, 325 N. Annie Glidden Road. 

Outdoor Adventures will sell a plethora of used equipment from sporting goods, camping gear, water sports equipment and winter sports gear. The full list of items is available online, and it shows the year the item was purchased, a brief description of the item and the quantity of that item.  

“What we’re looking at is to sell the equipment in order to get new equipment,” said Christine Lagattolla, assistant director of Outdoor Adventures. “We’re going to be selling a lot of stuff, but the main focus is cross-country skis.”

Lagattolla added that in addition to a bulk of ski equipment, the main highlight item is a bass fishing boat that was previously used by NIU. 

It should also be noted that everyone is welcome to attend the gear sale whether they are a student or community member. Prices for all equipment will be priced the same regardless of NIU affiliation. 

The main key for those interested in purchasing equipment will be to get there early, as the sale will be strictly in person and the equipment will be first come, first served. 

“Last time we did it (the sale) we had lines of people, probably up to 100 people waiting to get in at the start of it,” Lagattolla said.  

All available goods will be sold as is, and all sales are final on purchased equipment. As mentioned, the proceeds of this sale will be reinvested into Outdoor Adventures to help the organization purchase new equipment for the future.
