Futile effort
June 24, 1992
Tom Roberts is exactly right when he calls for public discussion of drug legalization. And a well-done to him and NIU for providing a forum (Robert’s drug legalization class) for this discussion.
From some future vantage point we will, I’m confident, be able to view the “war against drugs” for what it has been—a futile and misguided effort, borne of hysteria, with social and economic costs far beyond those acknowledged by the drug warriors and popular media. The sooner the public discussion begins, the sooner we can reach that point.
