Same letters

I am really getting pissed off at reading basically the same letters in the Star everyday. Everyday there is a letter on abortion. You know what I have to say? SHUT THE HELL UP!!! Writing your opinion to the Star is not going to change anyone’s viewpoint. It’s not. If you want to really make a difference, then write to the government. They’re the ones who make things happen (or not happen, whatever the case may be).

To all the people writing in about the racism issue—yes, there is a problem. We are all frighteningly enlightened now so can you please stop harping and do something constructive to try and change the situation?

And finally, I really have a bone to pick with you, Rickey Nesbitt. First of all, have you had your head up your butt for a long period of time? Birth control items and literature have been displayed for quite some time at the student center and you’re just now noticing it? Second, condoms and sex literature are not “filthy items.” The display gives people very important information and the ability to have safe sex. What’s wrong with that? You yourself mentioned AIDS and what a horrible disease it is—so wouldn’t you like to prevent more spreading of it? And finally, don’t throw your religion in my face. I respect your right to believe in what you want to believe in, but not everybody believes in the same things you do and not everybody is a wonderful abstaining Jew like yourself. A lot of people are going to have sex whether you like it or not, so why don’t we help them to stay safe by making literature and condoms available. Go ahead and band together with others who feel like you do, but it’s not going to make much difference because there are a hell of a lot more people having sex than not.
