Week of Feb. 7th gas update: Prices increase 10.9 cents per gallon

The cheapest gas prices in the state reported Sunday at $3.17/g, while the most expensive was $4.49/g with a difference of $1.32/g.

DeKALB— In the last week, the average price of gas has increased 10.9 cents per gallon, averaging a total of $3.61/g on February 7th, according to GasBuddy’s survey of 4,378 stations in Illinois.  

The cheapest gas prices in the state reported Sunday at $3.17/g, while the most expensive was $4.49/g with a difference of $1.32/g. 

The national average of gas has risen 8.0 cents in the last week, 12.3 cents per gallon in the past month, and is 95.7 cents per gallon higher than one year ago. 

“Gas prices saw their sharpest rise in months last week as oil surged to $93 per barrel, on continued concerns over Russia invading Ukraine and that there won’t be enough supply to meet demand come this summer,” head of petroleum analysis Patrick De Haan said.

Neighboring areas and their current gas prices:

Peoria- $3.58/g, up 12.3 cents per gallon from last week’s $3.46/g.

St. Louis- $3.17/g, up 0.6 cents per gallon from last week’s $3.16/g.

Champaign- $3.58/g, up 12.1 cents per gallon from last week’s $3.46/g.
