Last Friday, Steve Parsons of Alpha Kappa Lambda presented me with a marvellous collection of checks, which represented the generous spirit of you, the NIU community. The total amount deposited in my account on Feb. 29 was just over $2,000!! These donations came from local merchants, fellow classmates and supporters of our women’s basketball team. Steve told me how really beautiful it was to see so many canisters pass through the crowd, with so many giving so much.

I hope that my saying “Thank you!” to all of you doesn’t seem trite by now; you’ll never know how much comfort and strength you all have given me and continue to give me. I feel as though I’m on the road to the Promised Land and there is a wave of helping hands in front of me. Thank you again!!
