Illinois Gas Update

With tensions rising overseas, Illinoisians are continuing to see the effects as they fill up at the pump.

Gas prices in Illinois have risen 2.4 cents per gallon this past week, now averaging $3.70 per gallon according to GasBuddy. Gas prices have risen 22.3 cents per gallon in the past month and 94.7 cents per gallon in the past year. As of today, GasBuddy reports that the cheapest gas station in Illinois is Love’s Truck Stop in Decatur, IL at $3.19 for regular gas.  

The national average has risen 3.0 cents per gallon in the past week and now averages $3.51 per gallon. The average cost is up 20.5 cents in the past month and 88.7 cents in the past year.

Rockford- $3.60 per gallon

Chicago- $3.82 per gallon

Peoria- $3.68 per gallon

Tensions in Ukraine creating price rise

“With tensions still very high that Russia may invade Ukraine, gasoline prices kept moving higher, tugged by the rising price of oil as the market concentrates on possible outcomes from the situation that could affect global oil production amidst recovering demand,” said Patrick DeHaan, head of petroleum analysis for GasBuddy.
