Gymnasts win

Prior to the NIU 187.75-185.55 victory over Central Michigan University Friday, Huskie gymnastics coach Bobbie Cesarek said the team needed to score at least a 187.

“We hit it,” Cesarek said proudly afterwards. “We did everything we needed tonight to get the job done.”

While NIU started off a little slow on the vault, scoring a 45.80, it finished strong on the floor exercise and racked up a meet-best 47.95.

Lori Lebo finished first in all three events she competed in.

“It will be a very sad day when she graduates,” Cesarek said. “She has been a big asset for the entire program.”

In all-around competition, NIU’s Vicki Thimgan came in second with a 37.00 performance, behind CMU’s 37.10 mark.
