Unpopular opinion: The Shamrock Shake is disgusting
March 15, 2022
I know we’ve all heard of the green eggs and ham story, but have you heard of the green milkshake? It’s the shake that even Dr. Seuss failed to mention. It’s the shake that tastes like a piece of mint gum.
It is the shake that is completely disgusting.
Yes, I said it. The people that get it, get it. The people that don’t, well, they just don’t. My taste buds aren’t the same as yours. My mom always told me if I didn’t have anything nice to say, I shouldn’t say it at all. I’m going to try to put this in the nicest way possible. If you go to McDonald’s and decide to try the Shamrock Shake, I would definitely say DON’T. It’s just not good. It’s just not satisfying.
The Shamrock Shake is not a beverage that I would get on a regular basis. I mean, who wants to drink a green shake that tastes like toothpaste? When I was younger, I hated the smell of a York peppermint patty. So, I just knew that the taste of it would be horrific. That first bite of a York tastes just like the first sip of a Shamrock Shake. Even the name is dissatisfying, “Shamrock.”
If I had to choose, I would say McDonald’s should reconsider selling that shake. Although it is a limited-time edition, that is an edition that should be canceled like DaBaby. If we can cancel people, why can’t we cancel foods and drinks?
The Shamrock Shake is not a shake that I would recommend to anyone. It’s not a shake I would even feed my niece, and we all know kids eat anything.
It tastes like toothpaste, it smells like mint and the color is like the Grinch. When I taste it, it steals my joy just as much as the Grinch stole Christmas. It’s just not giving what it’s supposed to give.
If I had to pick between a Shamrock Shake and a chocolate shake, I would go with the chocolate. I vote for McDonald’s to take that shake back and create something that will make my heart smile.
