Facts clarified

I would like to clarify some misconceptions that I am afraid have arisen as a result of the articles and editorial in the Northern Star concerning the Business and Industry Services unit.

Business and Industry Services has no relationship to the College of Business; it is a unit in the Center for Governmental Studies which is housed in the Social Science Research Institute, which reports to the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. While the name would imply that it is working with the Colleges of Business and Engineering and Engineering Technology in providing services to business and industry, that is not the case.

There is no programmatic or any other type of relationship with the College of Business, and no faculty from the College of Business are involved in the program. As I understand it, the unit was brought under the umbrella of the University to work in the area of work force preparation.
