DeKALB — The band Jazz in Progress will be hosting their annual “Swingin’ the Bandshell” concert at 7:30 p.m. on Aug. 30. The concert will be held at the Dee Palmer Band Shell in Hopkins Park, 1407 Sycamore Road. The event is free of charge and open to the public. From the musical connoisseurs to casual listeners of contemporary pieces, this event is for everyone.

“The goal of the event is to celebrate 10 years of our group being in business and our goal is to play an enjoyable concert that people like to listen to,” Aaron Butler, a musician and founder of Jazz in Progress, said.

The group was formed from a love and appreciation for the musical arts. A staple to DeKalb and surrounding communities, they have been known to raise money that has been used to fund community music programs in DeKalb, Sycamore and other locations.
