NIU wins two

NIU’s women’s tennis team won two of three matches in Aurora over the weekend, moving its record to 3-1.
The Huskies beat Toledo 7-2 Friday, beat Gustavus Adolphus 8-1 Saturday and lost 5-2 Sunday to Iowa State.
“Those were extremely big wins for us,” NIU’s head coach Patty Groth said. “Not only did they win, but they did it soundly.
“I felt like we beat ourselves in the Iowa State match. We just didn’t have a good day in singles. Two of those losses were three-setters that I thought we could win.”
NIU takes a break for a few days before traveling to University of Illinois Thursday for a 5 p.m. match. That’s followed by a weekend trip to Milwaukee, Wis., where the Huskies take on Memphis State Saturday at 9 a.m. and triangular-host Marquette on Sunday at 9:30 a.m.
