Trying out new dessert recipes can become an enjoyable pastime as we start spending more time indoors. Here are five easy recipes that don’t require much time or ingredients.

Caramel cookies

In less than 30 minutes, salty meets sweet in these caramel-coated cookies.

The salted caramel cookies recipe, made by recipe creator Melissa Stadler for “Modern Honey”, calls for standard ingredients such as sugar, butter and eggs.

Utensils such as a cookie sheet and parchment paper are needed to place the cookies on. The combined sea salt and caramel garnish drizzled on top of the cookies produces sweet and salty flavors. The cookies will come out of the oven crisp and sweet, leaving a lasting taste of goodness.

Pumpkin bread

Pumpkin bread is a perfect seasonal treat.

This pumpkin bread recipe, created by Chef Jenn Segal for “once upon a chef”, combines nutmeg, cinnamon and a can of pure pumpkin to make two loaves of bread. Bakers will need two 8-inch by 4-inch loaf pans.

Now, this batter calls for a bit of patience as the pumpkin bread takes around 65 minutes to bake in the oven. For those who want to start their Thanksgiving dessert early, the pumpkin bread can be wrapped in aluminum foil and stored in the freezer for up to three months.

Hershey’s cookies

Private chef Sabrina Snyder created this Hershey’s kiss cookies recipe in “Dinner then Dessert”.

Ingredients such as brown sugar, unsweetened cocoa powder and a pack of Hershey’s Kisses are needed for this recipe. An ice cream scooper is optional but recommended in order to get equal scoops of batter for your cookies.

Cookie preparation takes approximately 15 minutes, and the cookies themselves only need to be baked for 10 minutes on a cookie sheet. The Hershey’s Kisses come in at the end when the cookies are taken out of the oven.

Before the cookies have time to cool, the chocolate kiss can be pushed into the center of each cookie. When it’s time to eat, the cookies will be soft with chocolate oozing out of them – what more could you ask for?

S’mores cupcakes

The recipe for these delicious s’mores cupcakes, made by Heather Perine for “Boston girl bakes”, includes a graham cracker base and a whipped, marshmallow frosting. Skilled bakers, or those who want to challenge themselves, can have a try at these toasty cupcakes.

Large mixing bowls are needed to make these cupcakes and a piping bag for the frosting. Two cupcake pans are needed as well as at least 24 cupcake liners.

Creating the burned frosting look is optional but if a kitchen torch is readily available, lightly torch the frosting until the desired look is reached.

Cake balls

The “allrecipes” Cake balls are an easy, appetizing dessert to make and can be cute gifts for friends or family.

The recipe requires a cake mix box of any flavor and a can of frosting from the baker’s choosing. When the cake is done, it must be crumbled into a bowl and mixed with the chosen frosting flavor. When mixing, a utensil such as a stirring spoon is required.

Now, these cake balls can be dipped into melted chocolate and set aside to cool. Cake balls can be sprinkled with nuts, chocolate chips, or sprinkles to add extra flavor.

For a fall theme, you can sculpt the cake balls into pumpkins and give them out as a Halloween treat.
