This weekend in Huskie sports: Oct. 21-23

DeKALB – NIU’s fall sports will get a dose of Ohio this weekend as football, volleyball and men’s soccer travel to The Buckeye State for battles with Mid-American Conference rivals.

Friday, Oct. 14

VOLLEYBALL

Coming off back-to-back losses last weekend, dropping their record to 13-6, the Huskies hope to bounce back against a Mid-American Conference rival, the University of Toledo Rockets. NIU volleyball will play its first match of the weekend series. The victor will come one step closer to securing the West Division title and a berth to the MAC Tournament.

Saturday, Oct. 15

Volleyball returns to action Saturday to wrap up its two-match battle with the Rockets. NIU will look to finish the weekend on a high note ahead of next weekend’s return to the state of Ohio to face off with two more conference rivals.

The Huskies will play on the road for the second straight week. NIU heads to Athens, Ohio, for a brush with Ohio University in enemy territory. Starting quarterback Rocky Lombardi is back in play after making his return from injury in last week’s win over Eastern Michigan University.

The NIU women’s soccer team travels to Oxford, Ohio, for its final road trip of the regular season. The Huskies will seek to earn a road victory against a 7-4-5 RedHawks team. With two games left in regular season action, NIU will attempt a push to crack the top six in the conference standings and earn a berth to the MAC Tournament.
