Weekly Gas Update: Oct. 24
In the past week, the price of gas in Illinois has fallen by 9.8 cents per gallon. This brings the average price to $4.20 per gallon according to Gasbuddy. This price is higher than last month’s by 28.5 cents per gallon. This is higher than the average last year by 70.3 cents per gallon.
On Sunday, the cheapest price in Illinois was $3.43 per gallon, while the most expensive gas price was $5.87. This is a difference of $2.44 cents per gallon, according to GasBuddy price reports.
Across the nation in the past week, the average price per gallon was $3.77, this is down
9.3 cents compared to last week. Overall, compared to last month the national average has risen by 41.2 cents per gallon.
In DeKalb, the cheapest price for gas was $4.12 per gallon at Mobil on 2700 Crego Road on Monday, according to GasBuddy’s online price tools.
“Average gas prices have declined for the second straight week with significant declines in the West and Great Lakes having an oversized effect on the drop in the national average,” said Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy.
