Pre-kindergarten screening to be held April 3

The DeKalb Community Unit School District 428 and T.E.A.M. for Families are holding an infant/pre-kindergarten screening for children not yet in kindergarten. The screening is scheduled from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on April 3 at Gwendolyn Brooks Elementary School, 3225 Sangamon Road.

The screening is free and includes educational and speech/ language components, as well as vision and hearing testing. To make an appointment, call 754-9936.

Economic Development Committee to hold meeting

The Business Retention Sub-Committee will meet from 3 to 3:30 p.m. Tuesday and the Economic Development Committee will meet from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both meetings will be held at the Municipal Building Annex Community Development Department, 233 South Fourth St., Suite A.

Brookfield Zoo manager to give presentation

Dave Becker, manager of Play Programming at Brookfield Zoo’s Hamil Family Play Zoo will give an informative presentation from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday at the Sycamore Library.

The presentation, sponsored by the Midwest Museum of Natural History, is titled "Nurturing our Children with Nature." Becker will tell stories and give environmental lessons. Nature crafts also will be a part of the program. Parents and children are invited to attend. For information, call 895-9777.

DeKalb Park District to hold Tuck and Tumble program

The DeKalb Park District is offering classes as a part of its Tuck and Tumble program. The class is a motor skills class that uses tumbling mats, balls, hoops and scooters for parents and tots.

The class fee for residents is $28 and $49 for non-residents. Classes will run until May 17 and are held in the Haish Gym on Saturdays. Those interested can register at the Sports and Recreation Center or Haish Gym. For information, call 756-8560.
