Hungry for food and Huskie athletics? NIU will once again sponsor the Huskie coaches luncheon starting today at the Days Inn-DeKalb located at 1212 W. Lincoln Hwy. Doors open at 11:30 a.m. for the buffet-style lunch which costs $5 per person. Reservations are preferred and can be made by calling the Days Inn-DeKalb at (815) 758-8661.

Bill Baker will play the role of emcee this week and is joined by Huskie football coach Jerry Pettibone and guest coach Willy Roy, NIU's soccer boss.

Former NIU basketball star Kenny Battle, who finished his collegiate career at the University of Illinois, signed with the Phoenix Suns Tuesday (August 29).

Tailgate in style. Take advantage of the Huskie Tent-A-Gate program. Reservations on a first-come, first-served basis can be made for a spacious (20x20) red and white tent to accomodate parties and groups of all sizes. Tent rentals include tables, chairs, tent signage, and two parking spaces immediately next to your tent. Anyone can rent the tents at a cost of $125 per game or $625 for the entire season. The general public pays a cost of $175 per game or $625. A $100 damage deposit is also required. Reservations can be made by calling (815) 753-0353. Tent payments will not be refunded if reservations are cancelled less than 48 hours before game day.

Season tickets to NIU football games may still be purchased until 4:30 p.m. this Friday. NIU's season ticket package features six home games starting with the Sept. 2 season-opener against California State-Fullerton at 6:35 p.m.

NIU's women's golf team begins its fall season Sept. 2 by playing in the 18-team University of Notre Dame Lady Irish Invitational.

NIU goes against teams from the Big Ten, Mid American, Big Eight and Gateway Conferences at ND's Burke Memorial Golf Course. Western Kentucky is defending meet champion.

"I think we have a good chance at finishing well, especially with the wide-open course at Notre Dame," said Huskie head coach Pam Tyska.
