Danielle Stewart named MAC Pitcher of the Week

DeKALB – Freshman utility player Danielle Stewart received the Mid-American Conference Pitcher of the Week award after the Huskies’ sweep of Miami University last weekend.

NIU won all three games. Game one 4-2, game two 7-6 and game three 7-2.

Stewart pitched 15.0 total innings and allowed just nine hits and five runs through her three appearances last weekend. Stewart was credited with two wins and one save from the series.

The freshman tied her career-high after fanning seven batters in game three. She racked up 15 strikeouts throughout the weekend. 

Stewart is also a two-way player as she recorded a double and a single with one RBI (runs batted in) and one run scored. She went 2-for-6 from the plate over the weekend.

Stewart was also named Northern Star’s Huskie of the Week for the week of March 20 to March 26.
