Hudson resigns position

Clarence Hudson, NIU associate athletic director, resigned effective June 2 to take a position with a former employer.

Hudson came to NIU last July after working for four years at Ruan Transportation Management systems where he will return to work in the public relations department.

NIU Athletic Director Gerald O’Dell said a national search to fill Hudson’s position would begin immediately with a target date to fill it of August 1, a press release states.

At NIU, Hudson’s job called for the overseeing of Huskie football, men’s basketball, wrestling and men’s and women’s golf programs.

Hudson chaired the search committee for new Northern Illinois men’s cage boss Jim Molinari and was involved with the Midwestern Invitational golf tournament.

“This is one of those really difficult career decisions one has to make,” Hudson said. “On one hand, I really like what I see in Northern Illinois University athletics and the progressive moves made by Gerald O’Dell. Without any doubt, the future here is bright. On the other, the position with Ruan is literally an offer you can’t refuse as far as career advancement and security for my family,” he said in a press release.

O’Dell said, “One of the inherent risks in hiring good people is that their resume is always attractive to other employers.”
