Let students vote

On Oct. 23, the SA fired Rene Lilly as SCOPA chair. This decision, as well as other controversial decisions concerning SCOPA should be referred to the students at large to decide in a referendum vote. If students were competent enough to decide such an issue as WKDI funding, they can decide something such as SCOPA.

Rather than doing the above, the SA has narrowed the ability of students to make their views on SCOPA known. Why else have they limited the number of voting members to a hand-picked few? If they really represent the mainstream student, why don’t they broaden the debate and allow more students to express themselves in a referendum vote? Are they afraid the mainstream working-class student might not agree? Mighty sporting of them not to ask—Let’s all Sieg Heil.
