Netflix delivers romance

“Love Per Square Foot,” a Netflix original directed by Anand Tiwari, is an inspiring and heartfelt Indian film filled with romance.
Sanjay Chaturvedi, played by Vicky Kaushal, is a man who’s desperately trying to get an apartment away from his insane family. Katrina D’souza, played by Angira Dhar, is also trying to live a life of her own and feels stuck under her mother’s expectations. Together, Sanjay and Katrina buy themselves an apartment while getting engaged at the same time.
The cinematography in the film shows off the beauty of India through excellent lighting and a colorful atmosphere. In a beautiful scene in a rickshaw, Tiwari uses the lights behind the characters to create a romantic and magical effect, leaving viewers with a warm and calming feeling.
The dialogue in the film is interesting because half of it is in English, while the other half in Hindi. Foreign films can be daunting to some viewers because they have to read subtitles, but this film feels like a breeze with its top-notch dialogue.
The chemistry between the two main characters is a breath of fresh air, as Kaushal and Dhar do a great job bringing this romance to life with their loving facial expressions. They also have great timing with the dialogue, bringing the movie to life in a comedic fashion.
Kaushal does an amazing job playing a naive, but charming character. He brings the character to life through his constant energy and pouty facial expressions throughout the film. By the end of the film, it is nice to see him become a more mature and forward-thinking man, a change which Kaushal handles expertly.
The film talks about independence through Katrina, who is being forced into a marriage she doesn’t want to be in, until she runs into Sanjay. Together, they defy their parents and try to find their own path and place together. Thematically, the film reveals the idea that true love is sacrificial.
“Love Per Square Foot” is an entertaining and beautifully shot romantic comedy spinning a tale of independence seamlessly together.
