The Northern Illinois University Press is seeking to enter a collaborative deal with another university press.

If a partnership is made, NIU Press and the collaborative partner would “share negotiated revenues from new and backlist books and any other associated fees,” according to Feb. 2 Public Higher Education Bulletin.

The NIU Press is used to enhance the reputation of the university by publishing scholarly works for a global audience, according to the Northern Illinois University Press webpage. The NIU Press also promotes books focused on Midwest region history and culture to enhance awareness about the region.

The deadline to submit a request for proposal to collaborate with NIU Press is 2 p.m. April 5. Those interested in submitting a proposal must be a member of the Association of American University Presses.

The Association of American University Presses publishes scholarly books intended for smaller audiences, according to the Association of American Presses’ webpage.

The NIU Press has printed over 600 books, and its publications have won numerous prizes.

Jerry Blazey, Research and Innovation Partnerships interim vice president, said the NIU Press publishes material with an academic emphasis and is known for its content concerning Slavic and Eastern European Studies, as well as Orthodox Christian Studies. The NIU Press also has books that focus on Southeast Asian Studies and several other academic disciplines.
