From the rise of cowboy boots to the blast of reds, see what the final verdict is for footwear this fall to stay on top of fashion in an affordable manner.

Slouch Boots

One boot trend emerging on runways and in closets everywhere is the slouch boot. Leave it to Yves Saint Laurent, the luxury french fashion house, to bring back the metallic style through $8000 crystal embellished boots, according to their website.

Other designers including Marc Jacobs and Michael Kors have jumped on the slouch boot bandwagon as they have been premiering similar styles. The slouch boot is a typical boot with stacked fabric folds, a trend which has been shown through many different textiles from suede to leather.

Students can get a more affordable style of slouch boots through DSW. 2347 Sycamore Road, with their Fayen Boot by Indigo R.D. The boot features a pointed toe and comes in colors gray, red and metallic silver. This boot can leave any student looking fashion forward and retails for just $70.

Glitter Boot

First introduced by Chanel’s NASA inspired Paris Week collection on Mar. 7 at the Grand Palais, the glitter boot has become a breakthrough trend.

Chanel’s glitter boots retail for $1,575, according the Chanel online store, but there are more affordable options. ASOS.com features a similar boot titled ASOS Raquel which is perfect for any width foot. The boot features silver glitter, a side zipper opening and a round toe. The boot also features a heel which adds style without compromising for comfort and retails for $51, a much more manageable cost for a student on a budget.

Burgundy

A major trend filling stores, runways and wardrobes everywhere is the color burgundy. Burgundy boots have been seen down runways in many styles such as the over the knee style to the ankle. The burgundy trend has also been shown through a variety of textiles such as suede and leather. This year, fashion houses such as Prada, Gucci and Fendi are using the color to give consumers a bold look this fall and winter season.

“I personally love the burgundy trend,” freshman business major Samantha Guevarra said. “The color is so rich and looks amazing on so many skin tones.”

One shoe retailer carrying tons of burgundy is DSW. The company carries the Leio Chelsea boot which gives women a chic look through its trendy block heel feature which is low enough to walk comfortably in. The boot also offers a suede material and pointed toe retailing for $54.98.

Cowboy Boots

Starting with the Calvin Klein Fall 2017 show, the urban cowboy boot trend seemed to make the rounds by being featured in collections by fashion houses such as Balmain, Celine and Alexander McQueen.

“Well, it’s not as avant garde as things on the runways past,” junior fashion merchandising major, Ally Racanelli said. “I think it’ll be interesting to see how [designers] combine the simplicity of the boots and the originality of the high fashions.”

Western inspired boots from these major labels can leave consumers’ pocket books asking for mercy, ranging anywhere from $1,295 to $1,150. However, anyone can get in with the trend for a more affordable price by shopping at DSW. The designer warehouse is selling Fergie’s Fergalicious Viola Cowboy Boot at $49.99. This boot combines simple casual clothing with western style stitching and features a two inch heel perfect for all day comfort.
