Initiatives proposed to boost enrollment
December 1, 2016
DeKALB | President Doug Baker announced the creation of the Division of Enrollment Management, Marketing and Communications which aims to make the enrollment process more efficient.
In the report, Baker responded to recommendations regarding Program Prioritization, which uses task forces to create reports that review 223 academic programs and 236 administrative programs to influence the allocation of university funds.
The enrollment recommendations will be effective Jan. 1 and are in response to this semester’s 5 percent enrollment decline.
In his report, Baker said making the enrollment process more efficient will not only stop the enrollment decline, but will also generate revenue.
Baker’s recommendations are final, unless it involves NIU’s budget, which will then need approval from the Board of Trustees, according to a Nov. 21 Northern Star article.
