History of the Week: Fire strikes Amber Manor

Six apartments were damaged and three were injured in an accidental fire that took place on the afternoon of April 16, 2009. 

The fire caused $30,000 worth of damage to the Amber Manor Apartments, 833 Ridge Drive.

At 3:30 p.m. April 16, 2009, DeKalb firefighters entered building No. 6 of the complex. A grease pan on the stove top cause the accidental fire, according to an April 17, 2009, Northern Star article.

Three NIU students were treated for smoke inhalation and released on the scene.
