Sigma Gamma Rho and Iota Phi Theta to hold Black Love Masquerade Ball

The Zeta NU Chapter of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority Inc. and the Beta Nu Chapter of Iota Phi Theta Fraternity Inc. will hold a Black Love Masquerade Ball Saturday 10 p.m. to 2 a.m. in the Holmes Student Center, Regency Room.

“We’re kind of going with the classy look, dress to impress,” said Collan Davidson, a member of the Beta Nu Chapter of Iota Phi Theta Fraternity Inc.

The Black Love Masquerade Ball is a formal event that requires formal dress, Davidson said. People that have talked about going plan on wearing suits and ties, and dresses and heels, Davidson said.

“We’re trying to get away from the usual Nikes, Jordans, jeans and leggings,” Davidson said.

Doors close for the Black Love Masquerade Ball at midnight, Davidson said, and tickets are only available online. Tickets for NIU students are $5 and $7 for non-NIU students, according to a flier.

Many supporting chapters from both collaborators are coming, Davidson said. People are coming from places such as Michigan, Aurora, Bradley University, and Southern Illinois University in Carbondale in support of the event, Davidson said.

“I’m very excited for the event,” Davidson said.
