LeGrier 911 Audio Released

By Northern Star staff

The Independent Police Review Authority of Chicago has released four audio recordings from 911 calls made immediately before the death of NIU student Quintonio LeGrier.

LeGrier was shot to death by police on Dec. 26, according to a Jan. 5 campus update.

LeGrier called 911 three times, asking for police to be sent to his house more than 15 times. The calls are terminated twice and at the end of the third call LeGrier asks the dispatcher to, “Stop f***ing playing with me.”

The fourth and final call is made by LeGrier’s father and police are dispatched after this call.

Following his death, LeGrier’s high school Gwendolyn Brooks College Preparatory Academy created a scholarship in his memory, according to a Jan. 21 Northern Star article. LeGrier was a member of the Black Male Initiative at NIU.
