SA wants Holmes use made cheaper

Student Association President Joe Frascello said at University Council Wednesday that he would like to see more affordability for student organizations that host events at the Holmes Student Center.

During the SA’s report for University Council, Frascello said prospective and current students are more likely to stay and graduate if they are involved in student organizations. Those groups are required to buy food and pay for the space when holding events in the Holmes Student Center.

“Many student organizations are prevented from [holding] events on campus, particularly in the Holmes Student Center, because the food costs are too high for them to afford,” Frascello said.

This semester, Frascello said the SA has allocated $12,000 to student groups and most of that has gone toward food costs for events.
