Pass/fail: General education program to change, Super Bowl is why SA will take day off

Pass

The general education program is finally getting a necessary face lift.

The plan is to make gen. eds more relevant to students and their majors. This will make our time and money spent as students worth the while and financial burden.

NIU is taking the step in the right direction by changing the requirements.

“We need to continue communication with everybody. The process is not just the task forces, it’s the community,” said general education coordinator Michael Kolb, according to today’s Northern Star article.

We need to be aware of what is going on with general education, make recommendations and move forward with NIU President Doug Baker and Kolb.

Fail

The Super Bowl is a waste of time. All people have been talking and worrying about is the Super Bowl.

Also, nothing makes me angrier than the commercials that take over the game.

Then, there is that big debate if Peyton Manning will get the Broncos the big W.

Student Association will know: Mike Theodore, SA chief of staff, said SA Senate has canceled its Sunday meeting so the senators can watch the Super Bowl.

I hope it is one heck of a game in order to justify the SA taking a day off just to watch it.

That Sunday can and should be used in working on the plan to better voter turnout, fixing school parking, discussing general education — the list goes on.
