Frigid weekend up ahead for DeKalb

By Northern Star Staff

DeKalbians are going to feel the cold this weekend.

Weekend temperatures will peak at 23 degrees Friday, 15 Saturday and in the teens on Sunday.

NIU meteorologist Gilbert Sebenste said he expects Friday morning and early afternoon to bring wind gusts of up to 50 miles per hour, with drifting snow. The intense wind is expected to carry over to Sunday afternoon, with gusts up to 35 miles per hour.

“We could see an inch or two of snow Friday evening into early Saturday,” Sebenste said.

Sebenste said a storm system may move through the area on Sunday, bringing snow along with it.

“We don’t know how much we’re going to get yet, but it’s going to have to be watched,” Sebenste said.
