Warmer weather to come in this week

Dealing with the cold weather last week will pay off this week when milder weather moves in.

The upcoming balmy weather may not last long, but it will be something to look forward to while wandering through the cold.

NIU meteorologist Gilbert Sebenste said high temperatures for the week should be around the mid-40s accompanied by lows in the 20s.

“After a mild weekend this weekend, next week will trend colder,” Sebenste said. “Not quite as cold as we’ve seen this past week but a little bit below average for this time of year.”

The cold weather affects students who walk to class and hope to attend NIU’s outdoor events.

With the temperature for Wednesday night’s football game near 19 degrees, Huskie Stadium still managed to see more than 18,000 bundled-up fans. Some aren’t as keen on the weather change, though.

“I hate it. I’m not looking forward to all the snow,” said Anna French, freshman special education major.

French has already started preparing for the upcoming winter conditions.

“I brought all my fall clothes home. I only have my winter clothes here,” French said. “I just want it to be winter; if it’s going to be, just go with it.”
