Powerful, diverse actors smash big screen

By Mike Kinnaman

“Gravity”

“Cast Away” meets “Lost in Space” in this intense survival thriller.

Sandra Bullock and George Clooney star in “Gravity,” a film about two people stranded in space with very little time to get home safe. Directed by Alfonso Cuaron, “Gravity” tries to push the limits of a movie where the setting is almost nothing.

With Clooney and Bullock on board, “Gravity” includes characters the audience will care about and want to survive. The fast cuts and epic explosions will keep viewers on the edge of their seat.

Ed Harris plays a mission control operator, a familiar for him as he played a similar role in “Apollo 13.” With the acting firing off all cylinders, “Gravity” is going to be one of those films that is hard to forget.

“Gravity” should be seen in theaters to get the full effect of what the director wants the audience to experience, and it will be a thrill ride from start to finish.

“Runner, Runner”

They’re bringing sexy back.

“Runner, Runner” stars Ben Affleck and Justin Timberlake as they traverse through the criminal world. After he loses all of his money in online poker, Richie (Timberlake) tracks down the guy who scammed him. But after meeting, he decides to work under him.

Affleck plays the antagonist in this action-packed movie, which is a role he does not play often. Timberlake always impresses with his acting skills, and “Runner, Runner” looks to be no different. Do not count out Timberlake because he a singer: Every movie he does his character is the standout of the bunch, and hopefully a good showing will lead to more roles for this underappreciated actor.

The great acting and intriguing storyline really make this film stand out. A solid director, Brad Furman looks to pace this film perfectly. Producer Leonardo DiCaprio will add his touch to this already fantastic crew. “Runner, Runner” is going to be a well-acted and beautiful movie.
