With its seventh straight win of the season, after beating Akron Saturday 37-7, NIU football rejoined the nation’s college football polls for the first time since the preseason.

The Huskies received votes in all three polls. They earned five points in the Associated Press Top 25 poll, which was the first time they received points in that poll since the 2011 preseason.

The Huskies earned 14 points in the USA Today Coaches poll, which is a two point increase from last week. They also garnered seven points in the Harris Interactive College Football Poll, which is the first time they received points in that poll this season.

NIU has received votes in these polls in each of the its last three seasons. In November 2010, the Huskies were ranked 24th in the Associated Press Top 25 poll and 25th in the USA Today Coaches poll.

At the end of last season, the Huskies were ranked 26th in the final two polls by the USA Today Coaches Poll and they were ranked 28th in the final Associated Press Top 25 poll of the season.
