Wednesday

At 1:19 a.m., DeKalb police observed a blue truck traveling southbound in the 900 block of Pappas Drive traveling at a high speed. The truck then made a left turn into a private parking lot and accelerated at a high speed, which caused the tires to squeal. The officer saw the driver, Eric N. Mitchell, 31, of DeKalb, and the rear driver’s side passenger were not wearing seatbelts. The officer initiated a traffic stop. Mitchell was charged with driving while his license was suspended, not wearing a seat belt, illegal transportation and driving under the influence.
