McCullough requests bench trial

The man charged with raping a teenager in the 1960s chose to have a bench trial instead of a jury trial at a hearing Monday.

Jack D. McCullough, 72, of Seattle, is charged with one count of rape and four counts of indecent liberties with a child. McCullough also faces separate charges for the kidnapping and killing of 7-year-old Sycamore girl Maria Ridulph, who disappeared from near her home on Center Cross Street in Sycamore in 1957. However, the state chose to prosecute McCullough on the rape charge first.

The bench trial is set to start at 10 a.m. on Tuesday.
