The following was taken directly from area police and fire department records, or from DeKalb County court records. Anyone mentioned is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
Sunday
At 5:48 p.m., a DeKalb police officer on patrol in the 800 block of Fotis Drive ran a license plate check on a white 1998 Oldsmobile and found the plates were suspended due to an insurance violation. The officer initiated a traffic stop and found the driver, William T. Leber, 22, of DeKalb, had a suspended driver’s license and expired registration. Leber was arrested, taken to the DeKalb Police Department and later released on bond.
At 8:48 p.m., a DeKalb police officer on patrol observed a maroon vehicle turn left in front of the officer’s squad car at the intersection of Fairview Drive and S. Fourth St. The officer initiated a traffic stop. The driver, Carlos D. Hernandez, 32, of DeKalb, was charged with driving on a suspended driver’s license, having no insurance and failure to yield.
