The following was taken directly from area police and fire department records, or from DeKalb County court records. Anyone mentioned is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Sunday

At 2:57 p.m., a DeKalb police officer on bike patrol observed a suspect vehicle driving east in the 300 block of East Lincoln Highway. The officer knew the registered owner had a valid warrant and no driver’s license. The officer initiated a traffic stop and observed the driver had a 2-year-old girl in a rear car-seat that wasn’t properly fastened. The driver, Uriel Garcia, 20, of DeKalb, was charged with no valid driver’s license, failure to restrain a child under 8 and had a failure to appear warrant for not having a valid driver’s license. Garcia was taken the DeKalb Police Department and later released on bond.

At 3:33 p.m., a DeKalb police officer on patrol observed a vehicle with a passenger who appeared to not be wearing a seat belt. The officer initiated a traffic stop and observed the passenger had part of the seat belt under her arm, worn incorrectly. When the officer asked the passenger, Stephanie K. Campbell, 22, of Chicago, for her identification, she gave several wrong names because she thought she had a valid warrant. Campbell was charged with obstructing identification and failure to wear a seat belt. Campbell was taken into custody.
