Monday

At 8:15 a.m., a DeKalb police officer on patrol observed a red Buick turn west onto Hillcrest Drive from Blackhawk Road. The vehicle had no front license plate, and the driver was not wearing a seat belt. The officer initiated a traffic stop. The driver, Antoineisha L. Williams, 18, of DeKalb, only had her student identification with her. When the officer asked for her insurance card, Williams asked the passenger if he had insurance. The passenger, Brian L. Sherman, 21, of DeKalb, was the owner of the car and produced an insurance card. The officer found Williams had a suspended driver’s license and was placed Williams under arrest. The officer allowed Sherman to call a friend to take the car since his license was revoked. The officer took Williams to the DeKalb Police Department and found the card did not belong to the owner. Sherman came to the police department to post bond for Williams. The officer asked Sherman about the insurance and Sherman said he paid money to a friend to buy insurance from him. Sherman was placed under arrest. Both Williams and Sherman were later released on bond.

At 1:58 p.m., a DeKalb police officer on patrol stopped a vehicle in the 1000 block of West Hillcrest Drive after observing a driver not wearing a seat belt. The officer initiated a traffic stop and found the driver’s license was revoked. The driver, Erin M. Blecka, 26, of DeKalb, had a restricted driving permit limiting her to only drive to work and back. Blecka was driving outside of the limitations of her permit. Blecka was arrested and transported to the DeKalb Police Department.
