City blotter for 10/20/11

The following was taken directly from area police and fire department records, or from DeKalb County court records. Anyone mentioned is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Tuesday

  • At 7:22 p.m., DeKalb Police officers investigating an incident in the 800 block of Crane Drive observed a man climb a balcony and enter a residence. The officers made contact with the man, Delasse Lanier, 22, of Sauk Village, inside the apartment. Officers learned Lanier, who initially provided officers with a false name and date of birth, was banned from the property. Lanier was arrested and charged with trespass to property and obstructing identification. He was taken to the DeKalb Police Station and later transported to DeKalb County Jail.

Wednesday

  • At 1:25 a.m., DeKalb Police observed a vehicle in the 400 block of West Lincoln Highway with a defective rear registration light. The officer performed a traffic stop and detected the smell of cannabis coming from inside the vehicle. The officer searched the vehicle and found ecstasy, alprazolam, cannabis and drug paraphernalia. The driver, Brandon R. Gassman, 31, of Chicago, was arrested and taken to the DeKalb Police Station. He was later transported to DeKalb County Jail.
  • At 1:39 a.m., DeKalb County Sheriff’s police responded to an accident on Lincoln Highway east of Pritchard Road. The driver, Amanda D. Thompson, 21, of DeKalb, was taken to Kishwaukee Community Hospital for treatment. Thompson was then arrested and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol.
