Campus police blotter for Sept. 6

WEDNESDAY

  • At 11:17 a.m., an officer responded to Lot NVC at the Nursing School for the report of a burglary from a motor vehicle. Upon arriving, he met with a woman who said that earlier in the day someone broke one of her car windows and stole her wallet. The officer canvassed the area, but due to no leads and no suspects, this case is administratively closed.

 

  • At 2:12 p.m., an officer took a report of fraudulent use of a NIU OneCard, in which a man said someone, without his permission, used his OneCard account. This case is pending investigation.

 

  • At 5:45 p.m., officers responded to NIU Parking Lot 31A to investigate a report of a hit and run accident. Upon approach, an officer observed the alleged offending vehicle leaving the scene. Upon contact with the vehicle’s occupants, officers smelled an odor consistent with the smell of cannabis. One of the passengers had cannabis in his possession. Andre L. Henley, 19, of Chicago was arrested, charged with possession of cannabis, processed and released. This case is closed by arrest.

 

  • At 7:10 p.m., an officer responded to Grant North C Tower regarding a theft of mislaid property. Upon arrival, a man said he forgot to pick up his book bag while in Lot W and upon his return, his book bag and its contents, which included a laptop computer, were gone. This case is pending investigation.

 

  • At 9:37 p.m., an officer responded to the NIU Police Department to take a theft report. Upon arrival, he met with a man who said someone stole his cell phone from a room in the Engineering Building. Due to no leads and no suspects, this case is administratively closed.

 

  • At 10:21 p.m., an officer responded to the Campus Recreation Center for a report of theft. Upon arrival, he met  with a woman who said someone stole her bag which contained her wallet and cell phone. This case is pending investigation.
