Friday

At 10:38 p.m., DeKalb Police observed a vehicle in the 700 block of West Lincoln Highway without working tail lights. The officer performed a traffic stop. The driver, Luis F. Hernandez-Palermo, 21, of DeKalb, provided the officer with an expired insurance card. Hernandez-Palermo was also found to be without a valid driver’s license. He was arrested and taken to the DeKalb Police Station and later released on bond.

Saturday

At 2:12 a.m., DeKalb Police responded to a fight in the 500 block of College Avenue. Upon arrival, officers could not locate a fight. Officers located a person in a vehicle trying to hide. Kylin D. Schmidt, 19, of Bonita Springs, Fla., was arrested and charged with the unlawful consumption of alcohol by a minor. She was taken to the DeKalb Police Station and later released on bond.

At 12:32 p.m., DeKalb Police observed a vehicle in the 1100 block of W. Lincoln Highway whose driver was not wearing a seat belt. The officer performed a traffic stop and found the driver, Samuel E. Yoder, 22, of Rochester Minn., was driving on a suspended license. Yoder was taken to the DeKalb Police Station and later released on bond.

Sunday

At 1:49 a.m., DeKalb Police observed a vehicle run a stop sign and fail to use a turn signal in the 700 block of North Seventh Street. The officer performed a traffic stop and noticed the smell of alcohol coming from the vehicle. The driver, Eduardo Valor, 28, of DeKalb was arrested and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol. He was taken to the DeKalb Police Station and later released on bond.

At 3:17 p.m., DeKalb Police observed a vehicle in the 100 block of West Lincoln Highway whose passenger was not wearing a seat belt. The officer performed a traffic stop. The driver, Jeffrey S. Rickmon, 31, of DeKalb, was found to be driving with a suspended license. He was taken to the DeKalb Police Station and later released on bond. The passenger was issued a citation for failure to wear a seat belt.

Wednesday

At 8:28 p.m., Police in the 1000 block of West Lincoln Highway observed a man who was known to have an active warrant. Police made contact with the man, Steven B. Shaffer, 27, of DeKalb and placed him under arrest. Shaffer was taken to the DeKalb Police Station and later released on bond.
