Jazz up your workout to get in shape
March 2, 2011
Those looking for a fun way to get in shape without the usual routine of normal exercise need to look no further than Jazzercise Sycamore Fitness Center, 1210 E. State St..
The fitness center will host two events this month, the first of which is a twelve-week Jazz It Off program beginning this week.
Jazz It Off includes normal Jazzercise classes as well as online resources.
“The participants will undergo body composition testing done at the beginning and end, as well as weekly weigh-ins to see how they are progressing,” said Adam Fell, Jazzercise Media Relations.
A membership to Jazzercise includes unlimited classes per month.
“The average amount of times people come per week is two, but we recommend three per week to maintain your fitness level and four to five times per week to improve,” said Tina Kott, Jazzercise Sycamore Fitness Center owner.
The program offers a sixty minute workout that is a combination of jazz dance, resistance training, Pilates, yoga, kickboxing, and Latin-style movements.
“The web page includes fitness tips, tips for eating healthy, and a fitness journal to help personalize to your own needs,” Fell said.
A prize will be awarded at the end of the Jazz It Off program to the overall winner.
“There will be a $100 grand prize [given] to the person who loses the highest percentage of fat,” Kott said.
Jazzercise Sycamore Fitness Center will also be offering free Friday classes to all new customers during March at the Sycamore location. Kott said this will not be available at the DeKalb location, 303 S. Ninth St., because they do not host Friday classes.
Participation in the Jazz It Off program costs $30 plus the cost of a membership for non-members. Normal membership costs $38 per month plus a $30 joining fee for a 12 month contract or $43 per month plus a $40 joining fee for a six month contract. A single visit is $12.
