The Rant: So sue me

By Andrew Singer

When exactly did filing lawsuits become the new American pastime?

Approximately 1,000 fans are suing Jerry Jones and the Dallas Cowboys for not providing adequate seating at the Super Bowl. I may have been inclined to support the fans had they not already been offered a rather nice settlement.

$2,400 and tickets to next year’s Super Bowl or tickets to any future Super Bowl with airfare and hotel accommodations included.

The lawsuit is currently seeking a whopping $5 million, but under Texas trade law, the suit could be seeking triple that amount.

Instead of choosing one of the generous offers, the fans have opted to legally pry a whopping amount of cash from the Cowboys that they didn’t earn. I usually get nauseous looking up at the injury attorney billboards alongside the highway, but this is enough to make me puke.

Jerry Jones is a despicable man, but not even he deserves this.
